Kraken Raises $800M at $20B Valuation, Eyes Global Expansion and IPO
Kraken raised $800 million, including $200 million from Citadel Securities, reaching a $20 billion valuation. The funds will drive global expansion, new products, and may support a potential IPO as early as 2026.
Kraken has raised $800 million in funding across two tranches, including a $200 million investment from Citadel Securities, valuing the company at $20 billion. The primary tranche was led by institutional investors such as Jane Street, DRW Venture Capital, HSG, Oppenheimer Alternative Investment Management, and Tribe Capital, with additional backing from Arjun Sethi’s family office. The new capital will support Kraken’s global expansion, particularly into Latin America, Asia Pacific, and EMEA, and will be used to broaden its product offerings beyond cryptocurrency to include more asset classes, advanced trading tools, and enhanced payment services. Kraken has demonstrated strong financial performance, generating $1.5 billion in revenue in 2024 and surpassing that figure in the first three quarters of 2025. The company is also reportedly considering an initial public offering as early as 2026. The involvement of Citadel Securities and other major investors signals growing institutional confidence in Kraken and the broader convergence of traditional finance with digital assets.
