Cork raises $5.5M for tokenized risk infrastructure

Cork secured $5.5M to build tokenized risk infrastructure, enhancing risk management and liquidity for stablecoins, RWAs, and onchain vaults.

Cork, a protocol focused on building tokenized risk infrastructure for onchain finance, has raised $5.5 million in seed funding. The round was led by Road Capital and a16z CSX, with participation from 432 Ventures, BitGo Ventures, and others. The funding will help Cork develop a programmable risk layer for digital assets, including stablecoins, yield-generating real-world asset (RWA) tokens, and onchain vaults. This comes amid rising demand for onchain yield, with stablecoin supply surpassing $250 billion and rapid growth in tokenized RWAs. Recent events, such as stablecoin depegs and a record $19 billion liquidation in one day, highlight the need for advanced risk management in DeFi. Cork’s platform offers tools like cover tokens and depeg swaps to enhance risk mitigation and liquidity management, aiming to align onchain finance with traditional financial risk practices. The next steps include expanding its decentralized insurance market and integrating risk swaps into major exchanges.
