CleanSpark has announced a definitive agreement to acquire up to 447 acres in Brazoria County, Texas, as part of its strategy to expand into artificial intelligence (AI) and high-performance computing (HPC) infrastructure. The site is designed to support a 300 megawatt (MW) data center, with the potential to expand to 600 MW, and will be integrated with CleanSpark’s existing Houston-area power portfolio, bringing its total potential utility capacity in the region to nearly one gigawatt. This acquisition marks CleanSpark’s second major development in the greater Houston area, following a previous project in Austin County. The company’s shares rose following the announcement, reflecting investor confidence in its long-term compute infrastructure strategy. The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2026, pending necessary approvals. CleanSpark is positioning these assets as flexible “AI factory” offerings, with the ability to deploy power both in front of and behind the meter, and is engaging with potential co-location and compute partners.
