Ripple and Kyobo Life launch real-time bond settlement in Korea
Ripple and Kyobo Life Insurance are launching South Korea’s first real-time tokenized government bond settlement using Ripple Custody and the XRP Ledger.
Ripple has partnered with Kyobo Life Insurance, one of South Korea’s largest life insurers, to enable real-time settlement of tokenized government bonds using Ripple Custody and the XRP Ledger. This marks Ripple’s first collaboration with a major Korean insurance institution and aims to modernize the country’s bond settlement process by replacing manual, fragmented systems with transparent, on-chain execution. The initiative seeks to compress the standard two-day settlement cycle into near real-time, reducing counterparty risk and improving capital efficiency. Additionally, the partnership will explore stablecoin-based payment rails for 24/7 transaction capability within Korea’s regulated framework. Both companies will jointly assess the technical and regulatory feasibility of tokenized Treasury settlement, signaling a significant step in developing institutional-grade digital asset infrastructure in South Korea. The announcement coincided with a surge in XRP ETF inflows, highlighting growing institutional interest in blockchain-based financial solutions.
