Stripe’s Bridge receives OCC approval for trust bank
Bridge, acquired by Stripe, received conditional OCC approval to become a national trust bank, enabling it to issue and manage stablecoins and offer digital asset services under federal oversight.
Bridge, a stablecoin platform acquired by Stripe, has received conditional approval from the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) to operate as a federally chartered national trust bank. This designation enables Bridge to provide digital asset custody, issue stablecoins, and manage stablecoin reserves under direct federal oversight, pending final approval. The new charter is expected to establish a robust regulatory framework, allowing financial institutions, fintechs, and crypto companies to confidently adopt and scale stablecoin solutions. Bridge’s compliance framework is already aligned with the stablecoin bill enacted in July 2025, ensuring regulatory readiness. The OCC’s decision follows similar conditional approvals for major crypto industry players like Circle, Ripple, BitGo, and Paxos. This move marks a significant milestone in integrating stablecoin operations into the traditional U.S. banking system and advancing secure, regulated digital asset management.
