X launches cashtag trading for crypto and stocks

X now lets US users tap cashtags like $BTC for real-time prices and trade via partners such as Coinbase and Kraken, integrating trading directly into the social feed.

X, formerly known as Twitter, has launched the Cashtag Partner Program in the US. This new feature allows users to interact with cashtags like $BTC or $TSLA, instantly accessing real-time prices, charts, and a "Trade" button within their social media feed. Clicking the "Trade" button redirects users to partner platforms such as Coinbase, Kraken, Gemini, Interactive Brokers, and Moomoo, where actual trading occurs. X itself does not act as a broker but serves as a gateway, seamlessly linking financial discussions to trading services. By integrating financial data and trading options directly into the platform, X simplifies the process for users to react to market trends. Early data indicates strong engagement, with around $1 billion in trading volume processed in the first three days. This marks a significant step in transforming X into a hub for financial discovery and investment, especially within the crypto sector.
