Ripple joins x402 Foundation for AI-driven payments

Ripple joins the x402 Foundation to help develop open standards for AI-driven payments, integrating XRP and RLUSD for seamless machine-to-machine transactions.

Ripple has become a premier member of the newly established x402 Foundation, joining industry leaders such as Coinbase, Circle, Google, Mastercard, AWS, Visa, and Stripe. The x402 Foundation, hosted by the Linux Foundation, is dedicated to developing the x402 protocol—an open standard that enables AI agents, APIs, and applications to send and receive payments over the internet as easily as exchanging data. Ripple has already integrated x402 support on the XRP Ledger, allowing AI agents to transact using both XRP and RLUSD. This initiative aims to create a vendor-neutral, interoperable payment infrastructure for machine-to-machine transactions, supporting various networks and payment methods. Ripple will contribute to the foundation’s technical roadmap and governance, advancing open standards for internet-native payments. This move builds on Ripple’s recent efforts, including the launch of the XRPL AI Starter Kit and XRPL AI Hub, which have driven a notable increase in agentic transactions on the XRP Ledger.
