Bitbank launches Japan’s first crypto credit card
Bitbank launched Japan’s first crypto-linked credit card, letting users pay bills with bitcoin and earn 0.5% crypto cashback. The card is accepted at Visa merchants and may soon support more cryptocurrencies.
Bitbank, a leading Japanese cryptocurrency exchange, has introduced the country's first crypto-linked credit card in collaboration with EPOS Card. The "EPOS Crypto Card for Bitbank" allows users to automatically pay their monthly credit card bills using bitcoin stored in their Bitbank accounts, marking a significant step in integrating digital assets with traditional finance. Currently, the automatic payment feature is exclusive to bitcoin, but there are plans to expand support to other cryptocurrencies in the future. Cardholders benefit from a 0.5% crypto cashback reward on monthly spending, with the option to receive rewards in bitcoin, ether, or Aster, which are deposited directly into their Bitbank accounts. New card members are eligible for a 2,000 yen bonus. The card is accepted at all Visa merchants, enabling users to retain their funds in crypto until payment is due. This initiative is seen as a major advancement in promoting the use of cryptocurrencies in everyday transactions in Japan.
