Solana partners with Mastercard, Western Union on blockchain
Solana launched an API-driven developer platform for enterprises. Mastercard, Western Union, and Worldpay are piloting stablecoin settlement and payments. The platform streamlines blockchain adoption and integrates AI tools.
The Solana Foundation has introduced the Solana Developer Platform (SDP), an API-driven toolkit aimed at simplifying blockchain adoption for financial institutions and enterprises. Early adopters, including Mastercard, Western Union, and Worldpay, are piloting the platform for stablecoin settlement, cross-border payments, and merchant services. The SDP consolidates services from over 20 infrastructure partners into a single interface, reducing technical barriers and streamlining the development of financial products on Solana. At launch, the platform features live modules for digital asset issuance and payments, supporting tokenized deposits, stablecoins, and real-world assets. A trading module is planned for 2026. Additionally, the platform integrates AI tools to further facilitate development. This initiative marks a significant step forward in institutional blockchain adoption, enabling faster, scalable, and more efficient settlement and payment solutions.
