Free Crypto Profit Calculator
Calculate your profits with Tangem’s Crypto Gain Calculator absolutely for free!
Whether you’re an active trader or a long-term HODLer, knowing exactly where you stand financially is essential. Our free crypto profit calculator takes the guesswork out of the equation — just enter your buy and sell prices, investment amount, and fees, and get an instant breakdown of your gains or losses.
Crypto markets move fast. Prices shift by the minute, and without a clear picture of your actual returns, even a winning trade can feel uncertain. A reliable profit calculator for crypto helps you stay in control: you see real numbers, make informed decisions, and never leave money on the table by underestimating fees.
Crypto Earnings Calculator: How It Works
Our crypto earnings calculator uses a straightforward formula to compute your profit or loss from any trade:
Profit = (Sell Price × Amount) − (Buy Price × Amount) − Entry Fee − Exit Fee
The calculator applies your entry fee to the amount you invested and your exit fee to the proceeds of the sale, so the figure you see is what you actually kept after both platforms took their cut.
Example Calculation
Say you bought 0.5 BTC at $30,000 with a 0.5% entry fee, and later sold at $50,000 with a 0.5% exit fee:
- Investment: $15,000 + $75 fee = $15,075
- Revenue: $25,000 − $125 fee = $24,875
- Profit: $9,800
- ROI: 64.9%
The crypto gains calculator handles all of this instantly — no spreadsheets needed. Ready to protect those gains? Store your crypto securely with the Tangem hardware wallet — a cold wallet that keeps your assets offline and out of reach from hackers. No seed phrase to lose, no online vulnerabilities.

Ever wondered what your portfolio would look like if you had bought Bitcoin in 2020, or Ethereum before the 2021 bull run? A hypothetical past investment is the same arithmetic as any other trade — and you already know both ends of it.
Enter the amount you would have invested, set the buy price to what the coin traded at back then, and leave the sell price at today’s market price. The calculator above shows the profit that investment would have produced.
This isn’t just a fun exercise. Looking at historical returns helps you develop realistic expectations, understand market cycles, and calibrate your current investment strategy based on actual data — not hype.

Benefits of Using the Crypto Profit Calculator
A dedicated crypto gain calculator does more than simple arithmetic. Here’s why traders at every level use one:
Financial Planning
Knowing your real returns — after fees — lets you set accurate profit targets, allocate capital wisely across different assets, and decide when to exit a position. A crypto earnings calculator turns vague intuitions into concrete numbers you can act on.
Tax Reporting
In most countries, crypto gains are taxable events. Using a profit calculator crypto tool to track each trade’s cost basis and proceeds makes it far easier to prepare accurate tax reports. You’ll know exactly which trades were profitable and by how much — the data your accountant or tax software needs.
Investment Strategy
Comparing past performance across different assets helps you identify which coins have delivered the best risk-adjusted returns for your portfolio. Run each trade through the calculator to see how entry timing and fees shaped your overall profitability.
Calculated your gains? Now secure them. The Tangem cold wallet is the simplest way to move your crypto off exchanges and into self-custody — with no complicated setup and military-grade security.

Calculating crypto earnings comes down to four variables: how much you paid, how much you received, the quantity of coins, and any fees along the way. The core formula:
Net Profit = (Sell Price − Buy Price) × Number of Coins − Total Fees
To express that as a percentage return: divide your net profit by the total amount invested and multiply by 100. For example, if you invested $1,000 and netted $400 profit, your return is 40%.
When you hold multiple purchase lots at different prices — a common scenario for DCA investors — your true cost basis is the weighted average of those buys. Work out that average first, then run it through the calculator as your buy price.
One often-overlooked factor: trading fees compound across both entry and exit. On some platforms, a 1% round-trip fee can meaningfully erode profits on a modest trade. Always include fees when calculating your real return.
How Do I Calculate Crypto Taxes?
Crypto tax rules vary by country, but the underlying logic is generally the same: every time you sell, swap, or spend cryptocurrency, you realize a capital gain or loss based on the difference between your cost basis and the proceeds.
Here’s the basic process:
- Identify your cost basis — the price you paid for the coins (including purchase fees).
- Determine your proceeds — the value you received on disposal (minus any exit fees).
- Calculate gain or loss: Proceeds − Cost Basis.
- Apply the correct tax rate based on holding period: short-term gains (under 1 year) are usually taxed more heavily than long-term ones.
Our crypto gains calculator gives you the gross profit and cost basis per trade, which you can then hand off to a crypto tax platform (such as Koinly, CoinTracker, or TaxBit) or your accountant to handle the reporting.
Note: converting one crypto to another (e.g., BTC to ETH) is also a taxable event in most countries. Don’t assume only fiat conversions trigger taxes.
What Is the Best Percentage to Take Profit in Crypto?
There’s no single “right” answer — but there are proven frameworks traders use to lock in gains without selling too early or holding too long.
Percentage-based scaling
Many traders take partial profits at predefined price targets. A common approach: sell 25% of a position at 2x, another 25% at 3x, and let the rest ride. This lets you realize gains while keeping upside exposure.
Return thresholds
Decide in advance what return justifies a trade. If your target is 50% and the market reaches it, execute — don’t wait for more. Use the profit calculator to set those thresholds before you enter a position.
Portfolio rebalancing
When one asset grows to dominate your portfolio (e.g., exceeds 30–40% of total holdings), selling a portion to rebalance is a disciplined way to take profits without relying on price prediction.
The key principle: define your exit strategy before you enter. Emotional decisions made during price spikes rarely outperform a plan written in advance.
Crypto Gains Calculators for Other Currencies
Our crypto profit calculator supports investments denominated in major fiat currencies including USD, EUR, GBP, JPY, and more. Whether you bought Bitcoin with euros or Ethereum with British pounds, simply select your currency and enter the amounts in your local denomination.
You can also calculate gains on virtually any cryptocurrency — beyond BTC and ETH, the tool covers major altcoins including BNB, SOL, XRP, DOGE, MATIC, ADA, and hundreds more. Real-time price data ensures your calculations reflect current market conditions.

Work out how many coins your investment bought, multiply that quantity by the price you sold at, then subtract what you invested and any fees charged on the way in and out. This calculator does it as you type: enter your investment, buy price, sell price and the two fee percentages, and it shows the profit you kept.
-
In most countries, yes — selling, swapping or spending crypto is a taxable event based on the difference between your cost basis and your proceeds. Rules vary by country, so treat this calculator’s output as an input to your tax reporting rather than tax advice.
-
There is no single right figure. Many traders scale out at predefined multiples — for example selling a quarter of a position at 2x and another quarter at 3x — or rebalance once one asset dominates their portfolio. The important part is deciding your exit before you enter.
-
Always. Fees are charged on both entry and exit, so a 1% round trip can meaningfully erode a modest trade. This calculator takes an entry fee and an exit fee as percentages and deducts both before showing your profit.
-
Yes. Enter the amount you would have invested, set the buy price to the price on the date you have in mind, and leave the sell price at the current market price. The calculator then shows what that investment would have returned by today.
