Cypherium’s COLOSSUS-X enables AI GPU mining revenue
Cypherium’s COLOSSUS-X lets AI data centers mine crypto with idle GPUs, boosting revenue and flexibility while reducing reliance on specialized mining hardware.
Cypherium has introduced COLOSSUS-X, a Proof-of-Work (PoW) architecture that enables AI data center operators to monetize idle GPU capacity. When GPUs are not engaged in AI workloads, they can be used for blockchain mining, turning unused resources into revenue. Unlike traditional PoW networks that depend on specialized ASIC mining hardware, COLOSSUS-X is optimized for high-memory AI hardware. It requires a 32 GiB memory dataset, which grows by about 10% each year. This design reduces the advantage of specialized miners and allows operators to allocate resources flexibly between AI tasks and mining, depending on profitability. COLOSSUS-X is supported by U.S. Patent No. 12,443,569 B2, covering validator committee selection, and features a hybrid consensus mechanism that combines PoW with Byzantine fault tolerance. Cypherium also plans to launch a Compute Index for on-chain pricing of computing power and is testing Proof-of-Useful-Training, which would allow verifiable AI workloads to contribute to network consensus. This initiative aims to transform idle GPU capacity into a valuable asset for AI infrastructure operators.
