THORChain v3.21 to restore trading and patch exploits
THORChain’s v3.21 upgrade, set for October 23, will restore Solana and Zcash trading, patch exploits, and introduce new features after a bug caused node operator losses but spared user funds.
THORChain is preparing to restore full cross-chain trading with its v3.21 network upgrade, scheduled for activation at block height 28,366,100 around October 23, 2026. This update resolves several critical issues, including a bug that deducted approximately 140 RUNE from the bonds of 18 node operators and led to the suspension of Zcash (ZEC) swaps. Importantly, no user or vault funds were lost; only node operators absorbed the loss, consistent with THORChain’s bonded security model. The upgrade also patches an exploit in the Rujira FIN contract, which had caused a nearly four-week pause in trading, lending, and automated strategies. Once the update is live, Solana and Zcash trading, Limit Swaps, and bRUNE staking will resume. Additionally, the release introduces the Streaming Yield feature for bond providers, reflecting THORChain’s ongoing commitment to enhancing security and user experience across its DeFi protocol.
