Aztec and Quantum Alliance accelerate quantum defense
Aztec and the Quantum Alliance are advancing post-quantum cryptography in blockchain, targeting key milestones in 2027 and 2028 to protect digital assets from quantum threats.
Aztec has unveiled a comprehensive plan to complete its migration to post-quantum cryptography before 2030. The roadmap highlights February 2027 as a pivotal date for deploying robust libraries and developer tools designed to safeguard private data from 'harvest now, decrypt later' attacks. Throughout 2027, Aztec will focus on selecting advanced digital signature schemes, encryption methods, and zero-knowledge proofs. Simultaneously, the Quantum Alliance—an initiative by nine leading blockchain companies—seeks to establish open standards and unified criteria for measuring quantum resistance across networks, wallets, and infrastructures. Their objective is to publish security guidelines and benchmarks by 2028. These efforts address growing concerns that quantum computing could undermine current cryptographic systems, potentially putting up to $2.7 trillion in crypto assets at risk if quantum-resistant solutions are not adopted swiftly.
