DIFC Courts adopt NFT tech for document verification

DIFC Courts use blockchain and NFTs for instant, secure verification of judicial documents worldwide, without storing confidential data on the network.

DIFC Courts have begun issuing court orders and documents with unique, non-transferable digital credentials. This allows recipients to verify the authenticity and integrity of documents within seconds, from anywhere in the world. The initiative uses distributed ledger technology. When a court order or judgment is issued, a cryptographic hash of the digital file is created and linked to unique credentials based on non-fungible tokens (NFTs). These credentials are recorded on the Avalanche C-Chain blockchain network. Recipients can verify documents by matching them with the registered credentials, ensuring their source and integrity. Any alteration to the file after issuance will cause verification to fail. Importantly, the judicial document, its contents, parties’ data, or confidential information are not stored on the blockchain. This approach streamlines cross-border document verification and enhances trust in digital judicial documents.
