Sui Foundation commits $30M as DATA Network migrates
Sui Foundation invests $30M as DATA Network migrates to Sui, integrates Walrus Protocol, and focuses on AI data provenance, licensing, and auditing. Token migration and governance rights are preserved.
The Sui Foundation has committed $30 million to support DATA Network as it transitions from its standalone blockchain to operate natively on the Sui network. Previously known as Story Protocol, DATA Network will discontinue its independent Layer 1 chain and redeploy as a native protocol on Sui. This migration, announced on October 8, 2026, means DATA will no longer maintain separate infrastructure and will run entirely on Sui. DATA Network will also integrate with Walrus Protocol, a decentralized storage layer, to manage storage and data coordination. The project is now focusing on AI data, offering services for data provenance, licensing, and auditing. Its auditing tool, Trace, is designed to track the origins and usability of data. As of October 2026, DATA Network has registered over 250 million on-chain data entries through its applications, including Kled and Numo. Kled alone has recorded over 1.5 billion user-contributed data records. The DATA token will migrate to Sui at a 1:1 ratio, preserving vesting schedules and governance rights. The current network will remain operational until migration is complete, with a detailed timeline to be announced.
