THORChain launches Zcash pool, trading coming soon
THORChain launched its Zcash (ZEC) pool after a node churn. Nodes now monitor Zcash, but native trading isn’t live yet. Liquidity is shallow, so users should trade with caution.
THORChain has launched its Zcash (ZEC) liquidity pool following a network-wide node churn on October 2. All active nodes are now monitoring the Zcash blockchain, marking a significant milestone in integrating ZEC into THORChain’s cross-chain ecosystem. Although the ZEC pool is live and offers a permissionless venue for Zcash, native trading functionality is not yet enabled. Activating native ZEC swaps is the next milestone for the protocol. THORChain cautioned that liquidity is currently shallow, advising users to trade carefully due to potential slippage and price impact, especially for larger transactions. The integration required months of technical development, including upgrades for UTXO management, RPC logic, and a ZEC price oracle. While no timeline for native swaps or pool depth was provided, THORChain expects liquidity to grow as more users participate.
