Bitcoin Core 32.0: Faster, safer, smarter node update

Bitcoin Core 32.0 launches October 10, offering faster block validation, smarter fee estimation, and key security fixes, all without changing Bitcoin’s consensus rules.

Bitcoin Core 32.0 is scheduled for release on October 10, following its entry into the final testing phase on September 14. This update does not change Bitcoin’s consensus rules but introduces several important improvements for node operators and developers. Key enhancements include a dual fee estimation system that combines historical block data with current mempool conditions, potentially lowering transaction fees during periods of low network congestion. Block validation is now significantly faster, with transaction data fetched in parallel across eight threads, reducing disk wait times and enabling up to three times faster initial block downloads. Security updates address a wallet creation vulnerability on non-Windows systems and fix a memory exhaustion issue in the web server caused by multiple unauthenticated REST connections. Additionally, four wallet commands now default to the PSBT version 2 format, requiring related services to ensure compatibility. Overall, this update improves transaction efficiency, security, memory management, and wallet operations, making node operation faster, more secure, and cost-effective.
