ICE and tZERO partner for NYSE tokenized securities
ICE teams up with tZERO to build NYSE tokenized securities infrastructure, investing in tZERO and licensing blockchain patents to enable on-chain settlement and new uses for tokenized assets.
Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), the owner of the New York Stock Exchange, has partnered with blockchain firm tZERO to develop infrastructure for a NYSE-affiliated tokenized securities platform. tZERO will act as a design partner, focusing on digital transfer-agent and broker-dealer systems to enable on-chain settlement of tokenized stocks and other securities. ICE will invest in tZERO and license its portfolio of 103 blockchain patents, which cover compliance-aware transfers, smart contract frameworks, corporate actions, and identity interoperability. This collaboration aims to bring regulated tokenized-markets infrastructure to public equity markets, enhancing transaction efficiency. The partnership will also explore the use of tokenized assets as collateral in clearing and capital-markets operations. tZERO is expected to become an approved digital transfer agent and platform participant, pending regulatory and technical approvals. This initiative positions ICE at the forefront of integrating blockchain technology into traditional financial systems, paving the way for innovative financial products and services.
