Ethereum roadmap prioritizes quantum safety and privacy

Vitalik Buterin’s new Ethereum roadmap prioritizes quantum safety, privacy, and efficiency, introducing new technical directions and replacing older concepts to secure the network’s future.

Vitalik Buterin has announced a significant update to Ethereum's roadmap, now called the "Strawmap." This new approach shifts the focus toward quantum safety, enhanced privacy, and greater protocol efficiency. The roadmap reorganizes Ethereum's development into three main layers: consensus, data, and execution. Quantum security and privacy are now top priorities, while previous ideas like Verifiable Delay Functions and some EVM improvements have been deprioritized or replaced. The update introduces new directions, including post-quantum scaling solutions, native rollup support, and protocol simplification through formal verification. AI-assisted formal verification and STARK proofs are set to become foundational technologies. These changes demonstrate Ethereum's commitment to future-proofing the network, improving user privacy, and maintaining a scalable, secure protocol.
