Galaxy Digital has introduced the Bitcoin Quantum Readiness Initiative, a program aimed at preparing Bitcoin for future quantum computing threats. The initiative provides up to $5 million in grants to developers working on post-quantum cryptography solutions. It also expands research through Galaxy Research and forms a Quantum Advisory Council with leading experts in quantum computing and cryptography. The program supports the development of quantum-resistant signatures, wallet migration tools, protocol proposals, and security audits. Galaxy emphasizes that, although no quantum computer currently threatens Bitcoin’s elliptic curve cryptography, rapid advancements in quantum technology and Bitcoin’s slow governance make early action essential. By bridging the gap between the fast-moving quantum sector and the conservative Bitcoin community, the initiative aims to secure Bitcoin’s future as quantum technology evolves.
