Aztec Alpha V5 launches with faster private transactions
Aztec Alpha V5 brings faster, cheaper private transactions to Ethereum Layer 2, enabling zero-knowledge proofs on consumer devices and supporting confidential dApps.
Aztec has launched its Alpha V5 upgrade, introducing a fully private execution environment to Ethereum Layer 2. This significant update enables users to generate zero-knowledge proofs directly on consumer devices such as smartphones and laptops, making private transactions more accessible and secure. Proving speeds for private transactions are now more than twice as fast as before, while costs have been reduced by approximately 50%. The new architecture processes private computations on user devices and verifies transactions on-chain, reducing the exposure of sensitive data and minimizing front-running and MEV risks. The upgrade was approved by token holder governance and executed on-chain, following a security-focused withdrawal deadline for the previous version. Aztec's Alpha V5 has undergone extensive testing and addresses critical issues from earlier versions. Usable applications are being rolled out, starting with the Nyx wallet, which enables private Ethereum transfers and private yield on Aave. This release positions Aztec as a leading privacy-preserving Layer 2 solution on Ethereum.
