TRON unveils quantum-resistant signatures on testnet
TRON has enabled quantum-resistant signatures on its Nile testnet, supporting NIST-standard algorithms. The upgrade is open for testing and awaits governance approval for a Q3 2026 mainnet launch.
TRON has activated quantum-resistant signature technology on its Nile testnet, marking a major step toward protecting its blockchain from future quantum computing threats. The upgrade, named GreatVoyage-v4.8.2-PQ1-build1, adds support for NIST-standardized post-quantum signature algorithms: Falcon-512, ML-DSA-44, and FN-DSA-512. These enhancements cover transaction signing, block production, P2P node handshakes, and smart contract verification within the TRON Virtual Machine. Currently, the features are available for developer testing on the testnet and require governance approval before mainnet deployment, which is tentatively scheduled for Q3 2026. TRON positions itself as one of the first blockchain networks to proactively upgrade its cryptographic infrastructure in anticipation of quantum computing, aiming to ensure long-term security for its ecosystem. So far, the technical upgrade has not significantly impacted TRX market prices.
