Helius acquires Light Protocol to boost Solana privacy
Helius acquired Light Protocol to advance zero-knowledge privacy on Solana, enabling private payments, confidential DeFi, and lower onchain storage costs.
Helius has acquired Light Protocol to strengthen privacy infrastructure on the Solana blockchain. Founded in 2021, Light Protocol initially focused on zero-knowledge privacy solutions for Solana. The team later shifted to ZK Compression, a technology co-developed with Helius that uses zero-knowledge proofs to reduce onchain data storage costs. With this acquisition, Light Protocol returns to its original privacy-focused mission, combining its cryptographic expertise with Helius’s infrastructure and developer ecosystem. The partnership aims to deliver enterprise-grade privacy protocols, supporting private payments and confidential DeFi applications on Solana. Helius plans to make this enhanced privacy infrastructure available to developers soon, reflecting the growing industry demand for robust blockchain privacy solutions amid sector consolidation.
