Sui blockchain outage halts transactions, SUI drops 10%

Sui blockchain suffered a six-hour outage, halting transactions and causing SUI token to drop up to 10%. The incident raised concerns over network reliability as the core team worked to restore service.

The Sui blockchain faced a major mainnet outage on Thursday, halting block production and transaction processing for up to six hours. The disruption, caused by consensus issues and network congestion, rendered decentralized applications and ecosystem services unusable. Block explorers showed no new activity during the incident. Mysten Labs’ core team collaborated with validators to identify and resolve the problem, deploying a fix that restored network operations. This marks Sui’s second significant outage in 2026, adding to a series of technical disruptions since its 2023 launch. The outage triggered an 8% to 10% drop in the SUI token’s value within 24 hours, reflecting market concerns over network reliability. Some ecosystem apps paused activity to protect users, while the full technical breakdown and long-term impact await official review.
