OKX X Layer unveils Exchange OS, OKB soars 13%
OKX’s X Layer launched Exchange OS, enabling custom crypto markets with high throughput and flexible compliance. OKB surged 13% after the news. The first demo will be a 2026 World Cup prediction market.
OKX’s X Layer has introduced Exchange OS, a major protocol upgrade that empowers developers, institutions, and ecosystem teams to deploy custom trading venues—including spot, perpetual, and outcome markets—on a unified, high-performance Layer 2 stack. The platform supports up to 300,000 transactions per second and offers both hybrid CeDeFi and fully self-custodial trading setups. To launch venues, builders must stake OKB, OKX’s native token, which acts as a financial filter. Exchange OS integrates core exchange functions such as matching, margining, liquidation, settlement, and risk controls directly at the protocol layer, addressing the fragmented infrastructure often seen in onchain finance. The upgrade also enables customizable compliance controls and supports EVM compatibility, making it accessible for teams familiar with Ethereum tooling. The first public demonstration will be a simulated prediction market for the 2026 World Cup, set to launch in June. Following the announcement, OKB’s price surged over 13%.
