Cardano’s make-or-break week: major votes and upgrades

Cardano faces a crucial governance vote on the Van Rossem hard fork. The Leios proposal passed with strong support, unlocking major development funds. Community engagement and upgrades are shaping Cardano’s future.

Cardano is entering a pivotal phase, marked by major governance activity and technical upgrades. The network is preparing for a mainnet vote on the Van Rossem (V11) hard fork, scheduled for May 29, 2026. This event is widely regarded as the most significant test of Cardano’s decentralized governance model to date. The upgrade aims to enhance scalability and requires approval from a diverse group of stakeholders, underscoring Cardano’s commitment to decentralized decision-making. However, unresolved issues with the Ogmios infrastructure have delayed final ratification by the Hard Fork Working Group. At the same time, the Leios proposal—designed to scale Cardano’s transaction capacity—was approved with 84% support from delegated representatives, unlocking 27.7 million ADA for development. Despite these advancements and a brief ADA price increase, the token’s overall performance remains subdued. Community engagement and inclusive governance remain central, as Cardano’s future direction hinges on the outcome of these critical votes and upgrades.
