Anthropic taps SpaceX Colossus 1, doubling Claude AI capacity

Anthropic gains full access to SpaceX’s Colossus 1, securing 220,000+ NVIDIA GPUs and 300 MW. The deal doubles Claude Code rate limits and boosts API ceilings to meet rising AI demand.

Anthropic has signed a significant agreement with SpaceX, granting it full access to the Colossus 1 data center in Memphis. This deal secures over 300 megawatts of power and more than 220,000 NVIDIA GPUs, including H100, H200, and GB200 accelerators, to support Anthropic’s growing AI infrastructure needs. The partnership comes as demand for Anthropic’s Claude AI software surges, straining existing resources. With this new capacity, Anthropic can immediately double Claude Code’s five-hour rate limits for Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise plans, remove peak-hour reductions for Pro and Max accounts, and significantly increase API rate limits for Claude Opus models. Colossus 1 is engineered for large language model training, multimodal systems, and generative AI workloads. This move positions SpaceX as a major AI infrastructure provider and gives Anthropic a substantial boost to support its expanding user base. Financial terms remain undisclosed, and the deal complements Anthropic’s partnerships with Amazon, Google, and Broadcom.
