Amboss unveils RailsX: Decentralized bitcoin trading live
Amboss launches RailsX, enabling self-custodial, peer-to-peer bitcoin and stablecoin trading on Lightning with instant settlement and no intermediaries.
Amboss Technologies has introduced RailsX, a peer-to-peer trading platform built directly on the Lightning Network. This platform allows users to trade bitcoin against stablecoins like USDT-L and USDC-L, both issued by Speed Wallet, while retaining full self-custody of their assets. Trades on RailsX are executed atomically through Lightning payment channels, ensuring settlement within seconds, minimal fees, and no reliance on a centralized order book or intermediaries holding user funds. Access is provided via the open-source node manager Thunderhub, requiring no extra setup for users. RailsX integrates Amboss's Magma liquidity marketplace with Taproot Assets, enabling decentralized trading and supporting increased trading volumes by coordinating liquidity across BTC/stablecoin pairs. This launch represents a major advancement for decentralized, self-custodial stablecoin trading within the Bitcoin ecosystem, removing the need for centralized exchanges or cross-chain solutions.
