Tether unveils open-source kit for Bitcoin mining

Tether launched the open-source Mining Development Kit (MDK), a modular framework that unifies Bitcoin mining infrastructure, supports automation, and eliminates vendor lock-in.

Tether has introduced the Mining Development Kit (MDK), an open-source, full-stack framework aimed at streamlining and unifying Bitcoin mining infrastructure. The MDK features a modular architecture, combining a JavaScript backend SDK with a React UI component library. It is hardware and vendor agnostic, supporting Windows, macOS, and Linux platforms. This framework empowers operators—from home miners to large-scale facilities—to monitor, control, and automate mining operations without vendor lock-in. By replacing fragmented, proprietary systems with a single open solution, the MDK enhances scalability, interoperability, and integration of new hardware and services. The MDK uses a capability-based architecture, coordinating device functions through a central orchestration layer, and integrates with Tether's Mining Operating System (MOS). This approach aims to reduce operational costs, boost transparency, and provide a standardized foundation for automation and optimization in Bitcoin mining.
