IBM and ETH Zurich announce 10-year AI-quantum partnership

IBM and ETH Zurich have launched a 10-year partnership to develop hybrid AI and quantum algorithms, focusing on joint research and innovation.

IBM and ETH Zurich have announced a 10-year collaboration to advance foundational algorithmic research at the intersection of artificial intelligence and quantum computing. The partnership will focus on developing innovative algorithms that bridge classical computing, machine learning, and quantum systems. Research will target four main areas: optimization and combinatorial problems, differential equations and dynamical systems, linear algebra and Hamiltonian simulations, and complex system modeling. IBM will support the creation of professorships and research projects at ETH Zurich to drive these efforts. The initiative aims to develop hybrid approaches that combine classical, AI-driven, and quantum computation, further strengthening scientific collaboration between the two institutions.
