OpNet launches native DeFi protocol on Bitcoin

OpNet launches a protocol enabling native DeFi on Bitcoin, letting users lend, swap, and stake directly on the mainnet without bridges or wrapped tokens, while prioritizing security and self-custody.

OpNet has introduced a new smart contract protocol on the Bitcoin blockchain, bringing native decentralized finance (DeFi) capabilities directly to Bitcoin’s mainnet. This advancement enables users to participate in yield-generating activities such as lending, borrowing, swapping, staking, and token launches—all without the need for bridges, wrapped tokens, or custodial platforms. The platform, called “SlowFi,” emphasizes security and stability by executing smart contracts and transactions solely with Bitcoin, using BTC as the only fee token. By operating entirely within Bitcoin’s existing infrastructure, OpNet removes the counterparty risks and complexities associated with moving assets to other blockchains or relying on centralized services. This development marks a significant shift for Bitcoin holders, allowing them to access DeFi applications while maintaining full ownership and control of their assets on the Bitcoin network.
