Meta Platforms has acquired Moltbook, a social network exclusively for AI agents, in a deal with undisclosed financial terms. Moltbook, launched in January, operates as a Reddit-style platform where nearly 200,000 autonomous bots interact, form communities, and coordinate tasks, while humans observe their activities. The platform is built on the OpenClaw framework, enabling seamless communication across messaging services and integration with leading AI models such as ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini. Founders Matt Schlicht and Ben Parr will join Meta Superintelligence Labs in mid-March to work on agent infrastructure projects. This acquisition is described as both a talent and technology acquihire, aimed at accelerating Meta’s AI roadmap and expanding its infrastructure for autonomous agents. The move highlights Meta’s strategic push into agentic AI ecosystems, leveraging Moltbook’s innovative platform to advance AI-driven social networking and agent collaboration.
