ZKsync Lite shuts down in May 2026—withdraw funds soon
ZKsync Lite will shut down on May 4, 2026. Users should withdraw or migrate assets before then. Funds remain claimable, and historical data will be accessible for at least a year.
ZKsync Lite, Ethereum’s first zero-knowledge rollup, will be permanently shut down on May 4, 2026. This move comes as the project shifts its focus to the more advanced ZKsync Era and the growing Elastic Chain ecosystem. On the shutdown date, block production on ZKsync Lite will stop and the network’s state will be frozen, making all balances immutable. Users’ assets, totaling around $33.9 million, will remain secure and claimable through dedicated withdrawal interfaces. However, users are strongly advised to migrate or withdraw their funds before the deadline to avoid complications. Launched in 2020 for low-cost ETH and token transfers, ZKsync Lite lacked smart contract support and was superseded by ZKsync Era, a zkEVM launched in 2023. The transition is planned and orderly, with a read-only API available for at least one year after shutdown to ensure access to historical data. Other ZKsync products and chains built with the ZK Stack framework are not affected by this deprecation.
