Aztec Ignition Chain Debuts: Ethereum’s New Era of Private DeFi

Aztec Network launched Ignition Chain, a decentralized Layer 2 on Ethereum, enabling private, scalable DeFi with zero-knowledge proofs. Validators stake AZTEC tokens, and a public auction is set for December 2.

Aztec Network has launched Ignition Chain, a fully decentralized Layer 2 protocol on Ethereum, introducing programmable privacy through zero-knowledge proofs. Ignition Chain enables private, scalable transactions and confidential DeFi applications by encrypting user balances, transaction amounts, and dApp usage, while maintaining verifiability on Ethereum’s mainnet. The launch was triggered when the validator queue reached 500, ensuring a decentralized and secure network. Validators and sequencers can participate by staking AZTEC tokens, with early participants receiving bonuses. The AZTEC token serves as the native asset for staking, governance, and block rewards, with a public auction scheduled for December 2. Ignition Chain aims to address privacy limitations in DeFi, reduce front-running and MEV, and support confidential enterprise and gaming applications. The project is designed to be compliance-friendly, allowing necessary disclosures without compromising general user confidentiality, and marks a significant milestone in expanding Ethereum’s privacy-focused Layer 2 ecosystem.
