Spanish Red Cross launches RedChain blockchain aid platform
Spanish Red Cross launched RedChain, a blockchain aid platform using ERC-20 tokens and zero-knowledge proofs to ensure transparency and privacy.
The Spanish Red Cross has launched RedChain, a blockchain-based platform aimed at improving transparency and privacy in aid distribution. Developed with BLOOCK and Billions Network, RedChain digitizes the aid process by replacing paper vouchers and prepaid cards with ERC-20 tokens on the Ethereum blockchain. Aid recipients receive digital credits in mobile wallets, which can be spent at authorized merchants via QR codes. The platform uses zero-knowledge proofs and decentralized identifiers to verify eligibility and transactions, ensuring personal information remains private. Sensitive data is kept off-chain, with only verification hashes and transaction proofs stored on the blockchain. This approach maintains donor transparency while protecting beneficiary privacy and dignity.
