Blockspace Media acquires Bitcoin Layers, expands data suite

Blockspace Media acquires Bitcoin Layers, integrating its analytics into a new dashboard for Bitcoin L2s and expanding into proprietary data products and market intelligence.

Blockspace Media has acquired Bitcoin Layers, an onchain data analytics platform focused on tracking metrics across Bitcoin’s layer-2 networks and scaling ecosystem. This move marks Blockspace’s expansion from journalism into data and intelligence products, integrating Bitcoin Layers’ research and analytics into its content suite. A new data dashboard is planned to monitor adoption, total value locked (TVL), and activity across Bitcoin L2s and scaling platforms. Bitcoin Layers will become Blockspace’s first proprietary data product, with future plans to cover bitcoin-related equities, ETFs, and additional market intelligence. Janusz, Bitcoin Layers’ maintainer, will remain as an advisor. As of January 14, Bitcoin Layers tracked over 361,830 BTC (valued at more than $34.5 billion) locked across Bitcoin bridging protocols, layer-2 networks, and other scaling solutions. Blockspace aims to position itself as a Bitcoin-centric, data-driven alternative in financial media, addressing the growing demand for specialized, signal-based reporting as blockchain adoption increases.
