Wyoming Unveils FRNT: First State-Issued Stablecoin Goes Live
Wyoming has launched FRNT, the first U.S. state-issued stablecoin, on Solana. Fully backed by dollars and Treasuries, FRNT is available to the public and aims to offer transparent, efficient, and low-cost digital transactions.
Wyoming has launched the Frontier Stable Token (FRNT), marking the first time a U.S. state has issued its own stablecoin. FRNT operates on the Solana blockchain and is fully backed by U.S. dollars and short-term Treasury securities held in a Wyoming-chartered trust. The reserves are managed by Franklin Templeton, with Fiduciary Trust Company International as custodian. The token is available for public purchase through exchanges such as Kraken and Rain, and is designed for both individual and institutional use. FRNT’s overcollateralized structure ensures 1:1 redeemability and emphasizes transparency, with public audit procedures and regulatory oversight by the Wyoming Division of Banking. Interest income from reserves will support state programs, including education. The token is interoperable with multiple blockchains via LayerZero and Stargate Finance, and is available to users worldwide. Wyoming’s initiative aims to provide a transparent, efficient, and low-cost digital asset, setting a precedent for other states considering similar projects.
