Interactive Brokers Unveils Instant Stablecoin Funding for U.S. Clients
Interactive Brokers now lets U.S. retail clients fund brokerage accounts with stablecoins like USDC and USDT, offering instant, flexible deposits via Zerohash, with automatic USD conversion and phased rollout to eligible users.
Interactive Brokers has introduced a new feature allowing U.S. retail clients to fund brokerage accounts using stablecoins, specifically USDC and USDT, via crypto infrastructure provider Zerohash. This phased rollout enables clients to transfer funds directly from personal crypto wallets, offering a faster and more flexible alternative to traditional banking methods, which are limited by clearing times and operating hours. Deposits are credited within minutes after blockchain confirmation, with automatic conversion to U.S. dollars. Transaction limits apply, including a $10 minimum, $25,000 per-transaction and daily cap, and a $100,000 monthly ceiling. Users pay blockchain gas fees and a 0.3% conversion fee. The feature is currently available to a subset of eligible U.S. clients, with plans to expand access and supported stablecoins as the program matures. This move positions Interactive Brokers at the forefront of integrating digital asset infrastructure with traditional brokerage services, reflecting a broader industry trend toward mainstream adoption of blockchain-based payment rails.
