YouTube Launches PayPal PYUSD Stablecoin Payouts for US Creators
YouTube now lets US creators receive earnings in PayPal’s PYUSD stablecoin, offering faster, more flexible payments and marking a major step in mainstream stablecoin adoption.
YouTube has introduced a new payout option for US creators, allowing them to receive earnings in PayPal’s PYUSD stablecoin. This integration leverages PayPal’s infrastructure, enabling creators to opt for PYUSD payments without YouTube directly handling cryptocurrency. The move is seen as a significant step in mainstream adoption of stablecoins, offering faster settlement times, reduced transaction costs, and improved access for creators, especially those working internationally or in regions with volatile currencies. PYUSD, launched in August 2023 and backed one-to-one with US dollar reserves, has quickly grown to become the sixth-largest stablecoin with a market cap of $3.9 billion. The feature is already live for eligible US creators, who can select PYUSD in their YouTube Studio payout settings. This development highlights the evolving role of digital currencies in major platforms and reflects broader trends of integrating stablecoins into digital payment systems, providing creators with more flexible and efficient payment options.
