Qivalis receives approval for euro stablecoin launch

Qivalis secures Dutch Central Bank approval to issue a euro stablecoin under MiCA, backed by 37 European banks and distributed via banks and crypto platforms.

Qivalis, supported by a consortium of 37 European banks, has received authorization from the Dutch Central Bank to operate as an electronic money institution. This license enables Qivalis to issue an electronic money token denominated in euros, fully compliant with the European MiCA regulation. The planned stablecoin will be backed one-to-one by the euro and distributed mainly through banks, crypto-asset platforms, and payment service providers, rather than directly to consumers. This approach aims to integrate traditional banking with digital assets, providing a euro-based settlement infrastructure on blockchain. Before launch, Qivalis must fulfill the remaining MiCA requirements, including publishing a whitepaper outlining the token’s operation and associated risks. The initiative seeks to strengthen European financial autonomy under ongoing regulatory oversight.
