Revolut unveils EURR stablecoin, plans wider rollout
Revolut launches EURR, a euro-pegged stablecoin, for select European users. Issued by Bridge, EURR is fully euro-backed, integrated into the Revolut app, and supports external wallet transfers.
Revolut has entered the stablecoin market by launching its own euro-pegged token, EURR. Initially, EURR is available to select users in Denmark, Poland, and Portugal, with plans for broader expansion across the European Economic Area later this year. The stablecoin is issued by Bridge Building S.A., a Luxembourg-based entity owned by Stripe, and is fully backed by euro reserves in compliance with EU MiCA regulations. EURR is integrated into the Revolut app, supports multiple blockchain networks, and can be transferred to external wallets. This launch marks Revolut’s transition from distributing third-party stablecoins to offering its own branded tokens, following its acquisition of a MiCA license for European crypto operations. Revolut also plans to introduce a GBP-pegged stablecoin, currently in testing, and aims to expand its stablecoin offerings to other currencies as part of its broader digital payments strategy.
