JPYC raises $38M to expand yen stablecoin in Japan
JPYC raised 6 billion yen ($38M) in Series B funding, with AZ-COM Maruwa joining as a strategic investor to drive broader adoption of its yen stablecoin in Japan’s retail and logistics sectors.
JPYC Inc., a leading issuer of Japanese yen stablecoins, has successfully closed an extended Series B funding round, securing a total of 6 billion yen ($38 million). This round featured a significant 1 billion yen investment from logistics giant AZ-COM Maruwa Holdings, which intends to leverage JPYC for payments to approximately 2,300 business partners and contractors. The newly raised capital will support the expansion of JPYC’s financial and Web3 ecosystem, aiming to accelerate the adoption of its yen-pegged stablecoin. JPYC is actively integrating its stablecoin into retail and logistics payment systems, including a pilot program at Lawson convenience stores. Operating on four blockchains and backed by regulated reserves, JPYC’s stablecoin is positioned for mainstream adoption. The recent funding and strategic partnerships highlight Japan’s growing acceptance of regulated stablecoins in commerce and finance, bolstered by evolving regulatory frameworks.
