Circle teams up with Kakao and Toss for stablecoin innovation
Circle partners with Kakao Group and Toss to explore stablecoin payments, blockchain settlement, and digital asset infrastructure in South Korea, focusing on KRW-backed stablecoins and programmable payments.
Circle has signed separate memorandums of understanding with Kakao Group and Toss to explore stablecoin payments, blockchain settlement, and digital asset infrastructure in South Korea. The agreements involve evaluating KRW-backed stablecoins, remittance solutions, merchant settlement, and programmable payments using Circle’s blockchain technology. Kakao, Kakao Pay, and Kakao Bank will investigate opportunities in digital assets, cross-border payments, and tokenized financial services. Meanwhile, Toss and Toss Bank will focus on digital wallets and international payments. These partnerships aim to integrate Circle’s blockchain infrastructure with major Korean consumer finance platforms, initially targeting faster payment and settlement systems. No specific products or launch dates have been announced. The collaborations come as South Korea continues to develop regulations for stablecoins and tokenized financial products.
