Tether Gold gains spot commodity status in Abu Dhabi

Tether Gold (XAU₮) is now an Accepted Spot Commodity in Abu Dhabi’s ADGM, enabling regulated firms to offer gold-backed tokens and expanding tokenized asset access in the UAE.

Tether Gold (XAU₮), a token backed by physical gold, has been officially recognized as an Accepted Spot Commodity by the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM), Abu Dhabi’s international financial center. This status permits licensed firms within ADGM to offer services involving XAU₮, provided they meet regulatory requirements. Each XAU₮ token represents one troy fine ounce of gold stored in a London Good Delivery bar, allowing users and institutions to access gold’s value via blockchain technology. The recognition follows ongoing collaboration between Tether and ADGM regulators, highlighting a focus on operational soundness, transparency, and compliance. This move builds on ADGM’s earlier acceptance of Tether’s USD₮ as an Accepted Fiat Referenced Token, further expanding the range of regulated digital assets in the UAE. The tokenized real-world asset market now exceeds $31 billion, with XAU₮ alone valued at up to $2.85 billion, underscoring the UAE’s progressive digital asset policies and rising demand for tokenized commodities.
