Altura winds down vault after $8.5M USDT redemptions
Altura is winding down its stablecoin vault after 8.5M USDT in redemptions in 24 hours, citing high withdrawal demand. Some redemptions are immediate; others need more time.
Altura, a DeFi yield protocol, has announced an orderly wind-down of its stablecoin vault after processing over 8.5 million USDT in instant redemptions within 24 hours. This move follows an unprecedented surge in withdrawal requests, triggered by market events such as the depegging of MainStreet's msUSD. Altura clarified it had no direct exposure to MainStreet or its strategies. The vault, which once reached a peak total value locked of $39 million on HyperEVM, allocated funds across various strategies including arbitrage, market making, and real-world assets. Altura has notified all counterparties and partners to begin closing positions. Some redemptions have been processed immediately, while others require standard settlement periods. The protocol emphasized its commitment to protecting user capital and ensuring fair, transparent redemptions, while acknowledging that some positions may take longer to unwind. The situation highlights ongoing concerns about liquidity management and the risks yield protocols face during periods of high demand.
