Ripple's RLUSD Stablecoin Gets Abu Dhabi Regulatory Greenlight

Ripple's RLUSD stablecoin has been approved by Abu Dhabi’s FSRA for use in the ADGM, enabling licensed firms to use it for regulated financial activities and boosting its adoption in the Middle East.

Ripple's RLUSD stablecoin, pegged 1:1 to the US dollar and fully backed by cash and equivalents, has received official approval from Abu Dhabi’s Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA) for use within the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM). This greenlisting allows licensed firms, including banks, fintech companies, and payment providers, to use RLUSD in regulated financial activities, provided they meet compliance requirements such as reserve management and transparent reporting. The approval is expected to accelerate institutional adoption, cross-border payments, and enterprise integration in the UAE and beyond. RLUSD, with a market capitalization exceeding $1 billion, is now recognized as an Accepted Fiat-Referenced Token, positioning it as a leading USD stablecoin in the Middle East. The move reinforces Abu Dhabi’s commitment to supporting crypto innovation with clear regulatory frameworks and is anticipated to boost RLUSD’s volumes and activity, expanding the region’s international trade market. Ripple’s presence in the Middle East is growing, with recent partnerships and onboarding of regional institutions to its payments network.
