Ripple's RLUSD Stablecoin Gets Abu Dhabi Regulatory Greenlight

Ripple's RLUSD stablecoin has been approved by Abu Dhabi’s FSRA for use in ADGM, enabling licensed firms to use it for regulated financial activities and boosting its adoption in the region.

Ripple's USD-pegged stablecoin RLUSD has received official approval from Abu Dhabi’s Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA) for use within the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM). This greenlisting allows licensed firms, including banks, fintech companies, and payment providers, to use RLUSD in regulated financial activities, provided they meet compliance requirements such as reserve management and disclosure obligations. RLUSD is fully backed 1:1 with US dollars held in high-quality liquid assets and is issued under a New York DFS trust license. The stablecoin has surpassed a $1 billion market cap since its late 2024 launch. The FSRA’s endorsement is expected to accelerate institutional adoption, cross-border payments, and enterprise integration in the UAE and beyond, positioning RLUSD as a leading USD stablecoin in the region. Ripple is also expanding its presence in Asia, the Gulf, and Africa through partnerships and regulatory approvals.
