Meta launches USDC stablecoin payouts for creators

Meta now offers USDC stablecoin payouts to select creators in Colombia and the Philippines via Solana and Polygon. Stripe handles payments and tax reporting. Creators must use third-party wallets and manage currency conversion.

Meta has introduced stablecoin payouts for content creators on Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. This initiative uses Circle’s USDC stablecoin, operating on the Solana and Polygon blockchains. Stripe provides the payment infrastructure and manages crypto-related tax reporting for these transactions. Currently in beta, the program is available to select creators in Colombia and the Philippines. Eligible users can receive their earnings by linking a third-party crypto wallet. However, Meta does not offer conversion from USDC to local currencies, so creators are responsible for exchanging their digital assets themselves. This move signals Meta’s renewed interest in digital currency payments. By focusing on distributing regulated stablecoins instead of issuing its own token, Meta aims to offer faster, more efficient international payments for creators while navigating regulatory challenges.
