Pornhub switches from USDT to USDC for payouts
Pornhub switched from USDT to USDC for creator payouts to boost reliability and comply with EU MiCA rules, ending its TronLink partnership and aligning with industry trends toward regulatory-compliant stablecoins.
Pornhub has shifted from using USDT (Tether) to USDC (USD Coin) for creator payouts, aiming to improve payment reliability and comply with the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulations. The platform notified creators via email, highlighting USDC as a fully reserve-backed, MiCA-compliant stablecoin. This change ends Pornhub’s previous partnership with TronLink wallet, which began after PayPal stopped servicing the platform in 2020. Creators are now required to update their payment details to USDC by June 1 to avoid payout disruptions. The move reflects a broader industry trend toward regulatory compliance and payout consistency, as USDT is no longer listed as a payout option for creators. This transition underscores the growing influence of regulatory frameworks on global crypto payments and may signal similar changes for other platforms in regulated markets.
