Danal Fintech and JB Jeonbuk Bank complete KRW stablecoin PoC

Danal Fintech and JB Jeonbuk Bank completed a KRW stablecoin PoC, covering issuance to settlement, and proved its real-world use. KakaoBank also plans to issue KRW stablecoins.

Danal Fintech and JB Jeonbuk Bank have successfully completed a proof of concept (PoC) for a KRW-based stablecoin payment system. This PoC covered the full cycle, from stablecoin issuance and distribution to merchant payments and settlement, demonstrating practical use in real-world commerce. The companies developed a SaaS-based platform called 'IEUM,' which offers modular functions for banks, trust companies, distributors, and merchants. Users can pay merchants with stablecoins via the app, with instant settlement. Independent verification confirmed the system’s convenience and strong user experience, supporting its readiness for real transactions. Looking ahead, Danal Fintech is preparing a second PoC focused on foreign users, while JB Jeonbuk Bank aims to leverage its foreign worker customer base for a remittance PoC. KakaoBank has also announced plans to lead the issuance and distribution of KRW-based stablecoins.
